We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the BCSSA Summer Leadership Academy from August 14-16, 2019 at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort in Kelowna.  Registration will open at 4:30 pm with the evening session beginning at 5:15. Beverages, including a no host bar will be available from 4:30 - 5:15 in the registration area. This year, the focus will be on continuing our work on transformative leadership as we pay attention to equity, diversity and agency. 
 
We're kicking off the conference on Wednesday evening with a keynote from futurist, Robert Sawyer, a provocateur building a case for educational transformation. After the keynote, a 100 Year Anniversary barbecue event is planned on the terrace at the Delta Grand.

On Thursday morning, we will open with a facilitated conversation with Robert Sawyer, solidifying our case for change, followed by an opportunity to learn with John Watkins, Director of Inquiry and Learning for Change, Harvard University, and Rod Allen, former Superintendent of Cowichan Valley. Recognizing that we are endeavouring to prepare our learners to thrive in an increasingly uncertain, complex, and ambiguous world, we are each working toward transforming our schools to better accomplish this task. To support this work, the day will include structured time for district teams to collaborate, examining our views of equity, diversity, agency and leadership. Using emergence theory as a lens, we will consider how these issues come together to help us develop a powerful view of transformative leadership. 

On Friday morning we will continue our focus on transformational leadership with John and Rod. This will be followed by a Ministry update regarding direction for the upcoming school year.  The conference will close at 12:30 pm.

New BCSSA Member and Newly Appointed Superintendents Sessions

The New BCSSA Member and Newly Appointed Superintendent sessions will be held at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort prior to the opening of Summer Leadership Academy on August 14th, 2019 from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm (includes breakfast and lunch).  These sessions are complimentary but please register here.
