BCSSA Online Professional Learning Session – Anti-Racism
Anti-Racism
Presented by Kevin Godden, Superintendent - SD34
Friday, March 3rd, from 8:00 - 9:00am Online via Zoom
While it is not new, equity- particularly racial equity- has come to the forefront of our consciousness in the discourse about educational transformation. We know that racism continues to be a formidable obstacle to our aspirations, but how do we as system leaders position our anti-racism stances as a pathway for making our schools places of healing, love and justice? While I have no definitive answers I will surface some ways we are exploring transformational equity and anti-racism in Abbotsford, along with some of the connections we are making with the Spirit of Leadership. Kevin Godden is in his thirty-sixth year in education and has served as Abbotsford’s superintendent for the last twelve years. Anti-racism has become an area of curiosity for Kevin, as he has long been passionate about educational justice.
