BCSSA Online Learning Program: Demystifying Compliance Audits

Session Information: The compliance audit process is designed to provide system level assurance that school district claims for funding are consistent with the services provided. Joanne Armstrong, Compliance Program Manager, and Chris van der Mark, Superintendent of Schools SD#27 will provide an overview of the compliance process, address myths or misconceptions, and provide strategies or planning insights. This session will help district leaders better understand the purpose and process of audits and how to more effectively prepare their services for alignment.

Joanne Armstrong Bio:
Joanne has been managing the Ministry of Education and Child Care's Compliance Program since 2005 with a goal to ensuring transparency of the process and sharing Ministry eligibility requirements with the field.
Chris van der Mark Bio:
Chris is the Superintendent of SD#27 and has been a Superintendent for the past 14 years in BC. He has also served as the BCSSA President and most recently is a part time secondee to the Ministry of Education. Chris brings a strong systems lens to this work and seeks to find ways to help leaders work smarter in our complex, diverse roles.
